The passing of Alan Baldridge
It is with great sadness that I report that Alan Baldridge died last night. Alan was a long time member of IAMSLIC who spent many decades serving as the librarian for Hopkins Marine Station. He was also the consummate naturalist specializing in birds and marine mammals. He served as the president of the local Audubon Society, and as program chair of the Monterey Chapter of the American Cetacean Society, he lined up many of the speakers. He was a founding board member of the Earl and Ethel Myers Trust for Marine Biology. Alan also authored scientific papers and wrote several books including “Gray Whales” that was published by the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Sheila Baldridge, his wife, soul mate, and another long-time IAMSLIC member, was at his side when he died.
