The 2001 Annual Meeting of the Cyamus Regional Group will be hosted by Moss Landing Marine Laboratories (MLML) and the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) in Moss Landing, on Monterey Bay, California.
Joan Parker, Librarian at the MLML/MBARI Library will serve as conference host.
Kris Anderson, current Cyamus Representative, will serve as program planner and moderator.
The 2001 Conference Program is available here.
The basic registration fee includes the conference program, local van transportation, field trip and meals except Friday dinner (Continental breakfast is available at the conference motel or at nearby restaurants). Registration fees are as follows:
- Attendees from the United States -- $75.00 US Dollars
- Attendees from Canada -- $80.00 Canadian Dollars (payable in US currency)
- Attendees from Mexico -- 500 New Pesos (payable in US currency)
For the current conversion rate, use the Universal Currency Converter(tm) or inquire at your bank.
For further information, please consult the Registration Form which will need to be completed and returned to Joan Parker by postal mail by 14 February, 2001 (please contact Joan if you need to register at a later date).
The Conference Motel is the Marina Beach Travelodge, located adjacent to the entrance to Marina State Beach and its beautiful coastal dunes. Directions and other information is available from their Web site.
Conference rates for a single or double room are $59 USD per night on Wednesday and Thursday and $69 USD per night on Friday and Saturday, plus tax. The total for all four nights, including all taxes, will be $283 USD.
We have reserved a block of 20 rooms, for which the first night's deposit of $65.25 must be paid by you or your roommate along with your registration by 14 February, 2001. Where possible, it would be helpful if you can include the total lodging cost of $283 with your registration, as we will need to pay the motel with one check for the entire group, rather than individually. In any case, the remainder will be payable upon arrival at the conference.
Persons choosing to stay in other lodgings will need to make their own arrangements. A wide range of lodging options is available, many of which are listed on the Monterey County Travel & Tourism Alliance Web site.
Van transportation will be available for groups from the San Jose Airport to the conference motel near Moss Landing on Wednesday and also for the return trip to San Jose Airport on Sunday.
In order to facilitate the San Jose airport service, please plan your arrival at the airport as close as possible to 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon and your departure from San Jose as close as possible to 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
Local Cyamus members will also be available to meet attendees at the Monterey Airport to drive them to the conference motel.
Be sure to indicate on the registration form when you will be arriving and departing and at which airport.
Driving directions:
- Map and directions to the Marina Beach Travelodge
- Directions and map to Moss Landing Marine Laboratories
Please note that we would appreciate it if those of you who drive or rent cars could help shuttle attendees between the motel and the meeting sites.
The local arrangements committee would like to thank both the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute and the Monterey Bay Aquarium for their generous support in underwriting portions of this year's meeting costs.
